Still Life
2022
With the work being completed in book-form in 2022, Still Life, deals with the first 52 weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic.
An unintended sequel to Enclave— a body of photographs that examined the Filipino American experience in Daly City through an intersection of suburban landscape and personal reportage— this body of work continues that practice, but re-focuses the lens on the the mundanity and ambivalence encased in the mandated shelf-in-place lifestyle..
With the socioeconomic and sociopolitical rifts widening globally, the position I take in Still Life is largely introspective, yet simultaneously looks outwards at an enigmatic world whose chaos and breakthroughs are likely responsible for shaping eras and generations to come.
